What I see from the back of the bike
It's amazing to me how relaxed I am now on the back of the bike. I don't even complain when I am supposed to read the map or the guide book as we drive. I am also now comfortable at taking photos and videos as we drive along. I can't post videos here, or at least I don't know how- maybe when I return to the states. We (and everyone else) passes on the right and the left. Traffic lights and one way streets are irrelevant and driving on the wrong side of the road and merging when ever you want, turning left from the far left lane across multiple lanes on traffic continuing on and coming the other direction- this is normal. I can easily touch some of the vehicles we are passing. Sleeping dogs in the road, dogs crossing the road, cows being herded or a stray cow just out for a stroll, chickens and their chicks. A rear view mirror does not serve much purpose if you bike is carrying stacks of banana leaves 5 feet tall and 6 feet wide- you would not be able to see around it anyways.

Scary! Do you ever drive or does Piers do all the driving? Do people speak English or do you get by with French?
