Old Saigon

While HCMC is hurtling into the future at a thrilling rate, ghosts of the past still linger in the heart of District 1. We took ourselves on a walking tour of Old Saigon, including the Ben Tranh Market (but we quickly decided to leave as we knew we can not buy things), the Municipal Theatre, the Continental Hotel (Where the foreign press corps stayed during the War and then made famous by the movie The Quiet American), the People's Committee Building, Notre Dame Cathedral, central Post Office designed by Gustave Eiffel, Jade Emperor Pagoda (built 1909) and the Bitexco Financial Tower- ending with our iced coffee -(nau da ca phe sua da).
